Case Study 15: Server upgrade
Problem:
Markdale Tractor Sales (Ford – New Holland), Markdale, ON
Symantec anti virus not working on local network with satellite Internet.
The customer has a LincSat satellite connection feeding 19 Windows XP clients on an AS/400 network. The customer tried a variety NAT routing clients including WinGate and SyGate to distribute the Internet connection across the network. These clients blocked non-proprietary network traffic and could not be configured to allow Symantec Corporate Edition anti virus to update. The workstations had difficulty connecting to the AS/400 using the supplied IBM connector client.
Solution:
Windows Server 2003 and the Routing and Remote Access service allowed us to route the Internet connection and correct all networking issues.
Equipment and Technologies Utilized:
Windows Server 2003
